THE ELECTRIC GOLF BUGGY JUST GOT SMARTER :

5th July 2017
Golf Australia reports that 1.18 million Aussies hit the golf course every year. Golf Australia also reports in order to sustain or increase the games appeal to an ageing yet tech savvy population with a new electric golf Buggy from concourse golf. Golf needs to modernise to stay in touch with the times, modernising golf doesn’t mean installing holograms and streaming a personalised music list across the greens, but it does mean considering the needs of an evolving player.

One consideration is the advancement of game accessory mobility and intelligence. Lugging around a golf buggy and typically administering the game in a manual fashion will become less alluring to the more tech savvy audience, but this audience is the future of the game.

ENTER SMART WHEELS

We’ve been working with award winning Concourse Golf, to develop the electronics for an intelligent golf buggy wheel – the Smart Wheel.

Although an electric golf buggy, or buggy wheel are not unique in themselves, the exciting thing about the Smart Wheels is that they convert existing manual push buggies into electric buggies by simply changing the wheels. The exciting part is that the software, sensors and algorithms we are designing will change the way electric golf buggies operate and can be potentially applied to a range of other industries, including health and logistics.

A SMART, LOCAL TEAM

What has made this project even more special, is that focused support from the Australian government and a determination from Concourse to contribute to the Australian innovation sector, Concourse will now be bringing its head office and manufacturing operations from Sydney and China respectively.

Procept is supportive of Australian innovation and manufacturing, so we are very excited to be working with Design and Industry in Melbourne, and local manufacturers SRX Global in the Melbourne outer suburb Dandenong as we move through the design of the electronics and into manufacturing. At this stage, we envisage the Smart Wheels rolling off the manufacturers floor in December 2017.

On Tuesday 16th May, the Hon Wade Noonan ,Minister for Industry and Employment and Gabrielle Williams, Member for Dandenong visited the product team at the SRX Global factories and confirmed that the move by Concourse Golf will create 198 new Victorian jobs by 2020 in production, research and development.

So now that a government official has endorsed the Smart Wheel, we should keep progressing our work in time for a December manufacturing period.

CONCOURSE GOLF DRIVES MANUFACTURING INTO A NEW ERA:

5th July 2017,

In a major coup for Victorian manufacturing, the world’s most innovative golf buggy will be designed and built in Melbourne, creating nearly 200 local jobs.

Visiting the team at Concourse Golf in Dandenong, Victorian Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan and Member for Dandenong Gabrielle Williams congratulated the company on choosing Melbourne to establish its new Australian headquarters.

Concourse Golf will consolidate its operations by moving manufacturing from China and its head office from Sydney.

It will create 198 new jobs by 2020 in production and research and development.

SRX Global Australia in Dandenong will manufacture Concourse Golf’s cutting-edge new technology – the Concourse Golf Smart Wheels.

The Smart Wheels are self-contained units that convert existing manual push buggies into electric buggies by simply changing the wheels.

The technology will change the way electric golf buggies operate and can be potentially applied to a range of other industries, including health and logistics.

The Victorian Government is bringing new businesses and new jobs to Victoria thanks to a range of support programs.

Our flagship Investment Attraction and Assistance Program (IAAP) – helping businesses set up shop in Victoria – received an additional $90 million in the Victorian Budget 2017/18.

Since coming to power, the Victorian Government has facilitated investments to create more than 11,000 new jobs.

The Victorian Government always support local jobs and industries – that means creating and protecting jobs, driving innovation and supporting economic growth.

AUSSIE GOLFER :

Concourse Golf have released their new design, the CMB3 buggy that clips on and stays permanently attached to your golf bag.
Concourse Golf is one of Australia’s most innovative golf design team and they’ve just launched a slick, new three-wheeled “Compact Bag Mobiliser” (CBM).
A few years ago, we reviewed Concourse Golf’s first CBM2 pull model and not only were we blown away by the incredible innovation that went into the design, but many others were too as it picked up a Design Award at the Australian International Design Awards.
We recently got a look at Concourse Golf’s new product, the CBM3 and it looks like they’ve come up with another winner.
In short, the CMB3 attaches to your golf bag with a couple of straps and clasps at either end. It’s slim profile means it stays attached to your bag off the golf course and with space a premium in the car, it doesn’t take up much boot space, particularly good when travelling with other golfers.
A simple click expands the buggy and the three-wheels (which come in a snappy looking circular bag) attach easier than any other golf buggy we’ve tried. You’re set to go in under a minute

THE QANTAS GOLF CLUB :

We’re delighted to announce that the International Design Award winning Concourse CBM3, the world’s most compact golf buggy and proud Australian innovation, has been appointed as the 'Official golf buggy' of the Qantas Golf Club.

“We’re excited to have the world’s most compact and innovative golf buggy as a partner of our program. We believe this partnership will give Qantas Frequent Flyer members access to one of the best tools in market to conveniently mobilise their golf equipment, efficiently saving space and time. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Concourse,” said Richard Davey, head of Qantas Golf Club

AUSTRALIAN GOLF DIGEST :

The world’s most advanced golf bag mobiliser is here.

Wherever golfers play around the world they are familiar with the terms buggy, cart, trolley or trundler – all names used to mobilise a golf bag for the walking golfer – and now Concourse Golf has introduced the next generation “Compact Bag Mobiliser” (CBM).

Concourse Golf, an Australian golfing equipment designer and manufacturer, has set the new benchmark globally with the 2016 International Design Award-winning CBM3.

The CBM3 delivers a new level of convenience for the walking golfer both on and off the course. Constructed of high-grade diecast aluminium, glass fibre pultrusions and weighing a little over four kilograms, the CBM3’s ultra compact form requires minimal time and effort to assemble making setup and transportation a snack.

The CBM3 is an Australian masterpiece that has taken three years to develop. It is a progression from the already successful award-winning Concourse CBM2 pull model that has been sold in more than 15 countries around the world.

Concourse Golf Managing Director David MacKay said “introducing the third wheel to our design philosophy was an impressive engineering and design feat.”

“Our key focus was to deliver a push buggy with outstanding on-course balance and performance whilst remaining true to our uniquely user-friendly operation and ultra compact form … and we are proud to say we have achieved that.

“The genius of the Concourse design is its incredibly streamlined frame that folds flat against the golf bag eliminating storage issues. For setup it is supremely efficient and fast with one touch operations. Removing the wheels and storing them in their own bag is great for a clean car boot and fine for placement on even the most fastidious car owner’s leather seats.”

The CBM3 is full featured and one of its many patented innovations is its ability to be separated from the bag with the flick of a lever.

MacKay said Concourse regularly asks golfers how their golf buggy could be improved and the responses have a consistent theme.

“They want their buggies to be more compact for easier storage, and they don’t want to waste time setting up and packing away when they could be practising before the game or having a drink in the clubhouse after the game,” MacKay said.

“We’ve dedicated years into designing every component and movement to work perfectly within a certain shape. Carefully selected materials deliver lightweight strength that also looks great. Additionally, we’ve gone to painstaking measures to ensure there is minimal effort required by CBM owners and that it operates as well off-course as it does on-course.

“Concourse Golf is making it easier for golfers to have expedient preparations so that they can play more golf.”

The CBM3 is now available online at www.concoursegolf.com with an RRP of $495.

INSIDE GOLF :

Over the years, we’ve tried a variety of different types of golf buggies. And whether you call it a buggy, cart, trolley, trundle or any host of other names, they are all relatively similar in shape; with anything from two to four wheels, and a variety of collapsible configurations and features.

But at the end of the day, the one common aspect of these vehicles is that they are all standalone units; requiring extra space for storage, as well as additional set-up/pack-up steps before and after a round of golf. And as we all know, space can be a premium, especially if you have a small car or limited storage space at home.

That’s why we were really keen to try out the new Concourse Golf “Compact Bag Mobiliser” (CBM), which may simply be the most compact “buggy-type device” we’ve ever seen.

We call it a “buggy-type device” because, to be honest, the CBM3 is unlike any golf buggy on the market. The most remarkable aspect of this device is that the frame stays attached to your bag, even when you pack it away in the car. After detaching the wheels (which come off as easy as anything, with a simple push of the buttons), the handle simply folds down and clicks into place, staying on your bag as you pop it into the car (though you could take the frame off quickly and easily, should you wish.)

On the course, it is a marvel of balance and smoothness. While I personally lay claim to having one of the heaviest golf bags in the industry (it’s always chock-full of different gear and gadgets), the CBM3 made it feel as light as a feather as I gently pushed it around a variety of courses.

Constructed of high-grade diecast aluminium, and weighing a little over 4kg, the CBM3 can fit onto just about any golf bag on the market (to test this, we even tried it out on an old 1940s-era golf bag during one of our Hickory Golf days, and it fit like a glove). Best of all, it takes hardly any time to set-up or pack-up, as it’s dead-simple to extend or retract. One of the nice features of the CBM3 is that all three wheels can be stored in their own bag (the two main wheels cleverly click together for storage), which helps keep your car clean and tidy.

Overall, we really love the Concourse CBM3. It is truly a “next generation” type of product, and worthy of their recent 2016 International Design Award. If you’re looking for an ultra-compact golf buggy (er, mobiliser!) then be sure to check this one out!
